Perfect "starter card", it is for students who have little to no credit history (which is the case for most who are hitting the books). You will earn rewards, although nothing life changing but the bonuses are a nice extra, with the extra being some cash back.
The cash back rewards go as follows:
5% for retailers and services that have partnered with Discover 1% for all other spending
Those are 2 of the perks but you should read the terms and conditions for current and updated information on what the rewards are. Generally they don't change too much however you should always check the latest T&C's before applying for any credit.
